Our guides' experience, dedication, and enthusiasm make them ideal ambassadors for your destination. They chart the course, finesse the details, and speak the language (English, as well as the local language). They also possess a truly rare skill, knowing when to let serendipity and inspiration take the lead.
Sugeeswara Dissanayake (Sugee) resides in the small town of Mahawewa and traveled for years throughout Europe and the USA before starting his guiding career. Even after twenty-five years as a professional guide, he retains a deep passion for sharing his vast knowledge of his beloved island nation, particularly with regard to gastronomy and nature. In addition, he’s a skilled wildlife photographer and spends his free time showcasing his Italian cooking skills to his friends and family.
Ajith Fonseca—or “AJ,” as he is known by his friends—was born in Colombo, but spent years pursuing a business degree in England before returning to his beloved homeland to begin a guiding career. A licensed national guide with over ten years’ experience, he finds great joy in sharing his vast knowledge of Sri Lanka, particularly with regard to history and nature. Travelers find his love of Sri Lanka infectious—especially when he’s revealing hidden highlights of Sigiriya. In addition to guiding, AJ is a skilled cyclist and spends his free time trekking though the tea country, rediscovering Sri Lanka’s diversity and beauty for himself. Please note that on this particular tour, you will have one full-time Country Walkers guide with you throughout the tour joined by local guides in each region we visit in order to offer the deepest immersion and best local expertise.
