Day Eight of pre-tour development for our 2012 Patagonia VIP Tour
To really experience the power and beauty of a glacier one must approach it by water, trek on its’ ice, and view it from above. Today we did all three! From a boat, peering up at the front walls hundreds of feet tall, one feels minuscule. Strapping on crampons and trekking across the glacial ice, one admires the beauty of its’ crevices, underground rivers, and ice-caves of iridescent and electric blue. But, until you hike up above a glacier and gaze down on its’ massive size you can’t imagine its’ power and influence as it shapes the landscape inch by inch.
