35 years experience

In 2013 our paths lead to adventure, with over 130 worldwide itineraries for Walking, Safari, Selects, & Small-Ship Cruises. Every trip is designed to offer the best of a locale; we walk, and explore the lands only the locals know, eat the foods they eat, and encounter the sea and sky that embrace their homelands. As we continue to grow, our commitment to responsible tourism remains constant. Walking, of course, is low-impact travel and environmentally sound. We continue our “best sustainability practices,” supporting local initiatives and programs.

Country Walkers is a proud member of the PEAK Adventure Travel Group Limited, the global leader in delivering outstanding adventure travel experiences.

It all began with a simple idea: explore the world actively, with passion and commitment on the "road less traveled." With this guiding principle, Country Walkers ended up changing the face of active travel. In 1979, we launched the company from an old barn in Vermont. Although we were small (and our office space rustic), our passion for the beautiful landscape of the surrounding Green Mountains became contagious. Soon we expanded our brand of travel from local to international destinations, discovering new and exotic lands around the world.

Our Team

Widely recognized for our commitment to unsurpassed guest service, we believe in and are dedicated to personalized attention. Whether working behind the scenes, standing at the trailhead or pedaling down a dirt road, assisting you with choosing an adventure, or reviewing specific tour details our experienced, professional staff is eager to ensure that your active vacation is rewarding, renewing, and quite simply unforgettable.

J. Bartholdi, Italy: Piedmont, May 2012

This is my first trip in which I was "taken care of", and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I will be back for more. By not having to worry about logistics, I was free to focus on the experience.

It was a wonderful active trip with beautiful scenery. Your guides helped to make the experience more enjoyable with their knowledge and friendly personalities.

An all around amazing experience!

K. Edgerton, Argentina: Mendoza & Patagonia, February 2012

The way Country Walkers handled the forced change in our itinerary was far superior to anything I have ever experienced in my 20 years of adventure travel. To know that Country Walkers will do everything in their power and walk the extra mile for their clients to make things right and even better, as in our case, that is the company to travel with.
